論文摘要：

As the life expectancy of general population has been generally extended in modern society due to the advancement of biomedical technology and provision of better health care, the challenge of elderly health care and the associated ethical issues also arise. In this speech the author will address the common ethical issues encountered in the elderly health care.

Autonomy and competence in medical decision-making have been central ethical consideration. While the mentality of the elderly often decreased with age progression, the common ethical problems in late life are constantly relevant to the “decision capacity”, “surrogate decision making”, and “end of life care issues”. The author will explore these ethical issues in late life. Ethical problems in dementia patient care and genetic testing will also be discussed.
